Repositioning People in Bed

What is a solution to the problem?

The following safety measures can reduce or eliminate the risk injuries:

  • Assess how much you can be helped with transfer by consulting the person being moved.
  • Prevent the person being transferred from grabbing at worker’s clothing during a transfer by placing an item in their hand.
  • Avoid overreaching in awkward posture by adjusting the height of the bed.
  • Maintain and monitor the condition of slide sheets. Change them if they are worn out.
